Cape Town-based artist Alex Jordaan brings together a deep reverence for nature and an unrelenting drive for creative innovation. Growing up on a farm in the Boland, his early curiosity for art and photography laid the foundation for two unique photographic paths.

One is rooted in his love for the natural world—capturing vivid landscapes, Cape Fynbos, edible plants, and the raw beauty of trails like the Otter and Whale through multi-day hikes with gear in tow. The other is boldly experimental, fusing star trail photography with intricate land art created using a custom-built visual prototype. These long-exposure night images—shot on film with up to eight-hour exposures—blend celestial movement with luminous three-dimensional forms, forging an entirely new genre that evokes energy and emotion.

Alex’s work has been exhibited widely since 2011, with upcoming projects including a photography book and future exhibitions that continue to challenge convention and celebrate the wild.
